Hi,

I have a 2000 S40. I am not able to fully turn on the ignition switch to start the vehicle. I am able to turn the key all the way to position 3 but am not able to get into position 4. I do not have any problems removing the key. I tried shifting gears and tried the Neutral position too.

Any help will be appreciated.

wiggle the wheel side to side. and or pull it to one side or the other.

 

Usually that is a bad ignition assembly the mechanical part.
