2000 S40. License plate lights appear to be good, but they do not function. Brake lights also intermittent when headlights are on, but appear to be function otherwise. Any ideas on the cause and cure?

 

Not sure if this would be similar to the problem mentioned in my earlier post for the older S40. My intermittent problem was solved by checking and cleaning the contacts thoroughly. Only thing is now the brake light warning light is permanently on[:@]
