I just bought a 2002 Volvo S40 with 29K miles on it, it's the stripped down version but I love it. I have a couple of questions that I thought I would ask.

First, on the AM radio, when I try to get an exact station, i.e. 830 or 1130, it won't go directly to that station. It goes to like 834 or 1134 but won't go directly to the station even if I just hit the back/forward button, not the seek button. Anyone know if there is a setting I am not getting or something, it does work fine on the FM.

Second, I noticed when I was test driving the car that it runs a little loud, kindof sounds like a truck a bit when it's stopped or in park. The dealer said that is just the "way Volvo's run" especially with the turbo engine. Since I just bought it two days ago from a Ford dealer, I was thinking of bringing it over to the Volvo dealer and having them take a look at it but I thought I would ask if they do run a little louder or if he was simply trying to sell me the car.

Look at the engine mounts.

 

I'm not sure about your first question, but I can tell you volvo's are slighty louder at idle than most vehicles. If it is excessively loud then you could have an exhaust leak. I'd have someone look at it.
