My daughter's 00 S40 started making a noise coming from the front of the car. As I accelarate I dont hear anything,but as I easy pressure from gas pedal I hear a relatively loud noise(ta-ta-ta) or if I press on the brake . The noise tends to fade as the car comes to a stop.Car has 80K miles.Any ideas? Tks

 

Which side is the noise on? Could be a worn half-shaft>

 

I have exactly the same problem, same model coming from the left front of the car.

Let me know if you found out what the problem might be.

 

This noise is coming from the head around the injector area.I think there may be a problem with the a/c unit.This noise is too loud which can hear from distance also and this is bad for your health
