Default MAF For Volvo S40 2006

Can someone please help me? I have had an ongoing issue with my MAF for my 2006 S40 Volvo. I had it cleaned but the check engine light came back on after about a week. The Volvo dealer is saying I need a new sensor which I believe I probably do. But they want to charge me 362.00 for the part. I am looking at other forums and I am reading that I shouldn’t buy an aftermarket sensor. Does anyone know a reportable place where I can get a brand new Bosch unit? That is cheaper than 362.00..

You can clean it yourself. Your local auto parts house sells MAF spray cleaner. It's just a matter of loosening the hose clamps, disconnecting the electrical connector and, I think, one bolt. Then spray it down. They do go bad, but 2006 is still too new to be replacing such an expensive part IMHO.

Make sure the electrical connector is seated and secure. Many times a loose connection can cause your issue.

If you do need to replace it you can find it online for $200 plus shipping.

Thank you, my friend tried cleaning it but he needed a special screwdriver to get to that part and we didn’t have that screwdriver. I had it cleaned at at mechanic shop (They charged $50) but the light came back on so I took it to a different Volvo mechanic shop. They did a diagnostic and said it needed a new part. They noted on my invoice: Pulled codes for ECM-250A long term fuel trim upper limit, inspected and found air mass sensor failing internally, should show 4 f/s at idle and is showing 2.98 f/s at idle. Recommend replacing with new. The car only has 61512 miles on it but I haven’t done any routine maintenance on it yet.
