Default Motor mounts diagram?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forums and owning a Volvo so I figured this would be the best place to find information about our car.

We recently purchased a 2000 Volvo c40 and it has bad vibration in the steering wheel at idle. After a bit of research, I have learned that the motor mounts on these cars tend to break or wear excessively. Considering this car has 250K+, I'm going to start there.

Does anyone happen to know where I can find a diagram for the mounts? It's an automatic with the 1.9 turbo engine.

Thanks

Hi there,
Here are two links that will help you. Tasca has great prices if you need Volvo OEM stuff:
ENGINE & TRANS MOUNTING for 2000 Volvo S40

2000 Volvo S40 2.0l 4 cylinder Turbo Engine mountings

I ended up replacing all four on mine but you may want to start with the "front" mount i.e. the one near the timing belt. Front and back are easier jobs - the trans mounts are a bit more of a pain in the **** (still doable though). if you are replacing the trans mounts - be sure to replace the x-member bushings and spacers AND the two collars that go on either side of the rear-most mount.

Awesome! Thank you! Those will definitely be helpful. I think I will start with the front and work my way around.

Sometimes the steering column vibrates (shakes?) so much, it rattles (along with random trims around the car). Makes me feel like my brain is going to rattle out of my head lol.

At first, I was suspecting a misfire but the car accelerates great. It's just at idle that things get "bumpy". The CE light came on this morning and I will look into that also to see if it's part of this problem.

This may sound like a redundant question, but do you happen to know the oil change frequency, quantity, and type? I'm using premium gas and it gets good mileage.

Thanks
