Hello,
I am looking for a new car and came across a2006 s40with what the listing states as 98,000 miles. I did a carfax report on it and saw that it is listed as having only 59,000 miles and odometer reading 96,000 kilometers. Is Carfax wrong or is the seller unaware of the odometer listing kms instead of miles?? any help would be greatly appreciated, the sooner the better since im going down to see it tomorrow. thanks in advance for your help!

 

the last time it's been tranfered or serviced at a dealer is the last time the mileage was updated on carfax. Why not just call or e-mail the seller and ask?
Is the car a Canadian version? When you look at the car just check the speedometer and see if it's in km or mi's then you'll have your answer....good luck with the purchase and come back with pictures...

 

Thanks for the reply jr. The last carfax report was from about 3 months ago. Like i stated, It shows the mileage at about 49,000 miles but on the details column it states Odometer reads 86,000 kilometers. I thought about the spedometer as well. The picture looks like its set up for miles with kilometers being listed in smaller numbers between the mile markers. I dont want to call the seller just yet because its a dealer which first off i dont think they would know the answer and second i think the price of it reflects them thinking its got 90000 miles rather than 50000.

but if the guy thinks theres 100,000 miles on it thats kinda good cause the price will be lower...
then you will get a car with 59,000 miles for less...

just check it out you never have to buy it if you dont want to...

 

ooo and i dont know of any s40s that have a km instead of miles....
i know canadian s40s have km....

I think i remember hearing that we woundnt pass inspection with the km ....
i could be wrong...
