R/R fuel rail on 2000 s40
Normally you pull the fuse then run the engine until the fuel pressure is depleted. You can also use the shrader valve to relieve pressure but this tends to be messy with raw fuel spilling onto your engine.
as I recall (maybe stating the obvious) the order is turn car on, then pull fuse, then wait until the car stalls. Try to start again (just to be sure). Then, keeping fuse out, proceed with planned work.
FYI: I had a devil of a time trying to get new injector rubber rings back in when I changed my PCV. I finally gave up and put it all back together with the original rubber rings which I thankfully had not thrown out. I think my problem was that I used after market rubber rings - go VOLVO on those if this is part of your planned work.
