Default Remote issues...new owner

Hi there,
I am new here, and have just purchased a used 2007 S40.
I noticed that the the trunk will not open when I press the trunk release from the remote FOB. I can open the trunk from the trunk release at the back of the car and when the car is locked, the trunk also locks.

Also, the alarm does not seem to work. When I press the panic button on the remote nothing happens. The red led on the dash does flash when I lock the car. Where is the siren for the alarm located. Is it connected to the horn or is it a seperate unit

Are these options or is this a standard feature on the car.

Thank in advance

The horn and siren are separate, sounds like your remote is malfunctioning, the dealer can do a quick test on a tool, if available. Do a search on here and you can find out how to test the siren, same for all cars.
