I am trying to replace the right turn signal light closure on my 2002 Volvo 40. The plastic clear case has been removed, but the small ring with the black plug is still there. I cannot separate them.
Does this plug just pull out or is there some lock to it?

It is obviously 22 years old, and it just might be stuck. I just cannot remove it and put the whole new case on. Again, is there a lock on the plug that I must release in order to separate.the ring and plug or does it pull straight out?
