Default Turn Signal Failure

Hi,
I Have a 2002 XC70, had the turn signal bulb failure message come up and the left blinker blinks fast. Sometimes the turn signal works sometimes it dosen't. Pulled the bulb and the Bulb filaments looked ok but the yellow paint on the bulb was burned off, replaced the bulb and it still gives me the failure. Both front and rear signals work but blink really fast? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Pat

Default RE: Turn Signal Failure

Usually the socket is bad. Or the turn signal switch. I would try to new socket first though.

Check the socket for corrosion. If possible, try to clean it as a temporary fix, but as tech said, it is most likely the socket

Default Bad spot weld in Front turn signal socket

Of course My turn signal was flashing fast for the last week and a half. I finally removed the socket from the wiring harness. Using my meter I got an open from the ground pin to the outside of the socket. If I wiggle the pin and hold the socket steady, I can see movement on the connection between the pin and the socket. With a little solder and a VERY skinny iron I soldered the connection and put everything back together. PRESTO, the problem is gone.

Hi folks,

I have the same problem with both sides of my turn signals (first the passenger side, then eventually the driver's). Is it a fairly common problem? If I replace the sockets with OEM, will it just happen again anyway, or is there a better aftermarket socket I you would recommend instead? Thanks very much for the help!

The replacements are better.
I tried to mess with mine and boy the pass side is fun!
Found two of the newer sockets on ebay ..popped them in and all is fine!
