Default Replacing a headlight bulb on 2001?

Hi,

I need to replace a front headlight bulb on my 01 S40. I looked at the back of the lamp assembly, seems like it shouldn't be too difficult, except maybe I might have to take out the battery to pullthe badoneout(it's the drivers side bulb). Is this true? Any tips or pointers would be appreciated.

It will be alot easier with the battery out. Then remove the cover and the spring clip.

You do not actually have to remove the battery. There probably is a rubber cover and once that is removed you can kinda feel for the spring clamp and remove the bulb. I have changed my headlamps a couple of times and did so with no problems!

Come to think of it, some Volvo models will have to have the radio reprogrammed if the battery is disconnected. I would change it with the battery in to avoid that.
