Default S40 2004 T5 Vibrates

Hi Guys,

I am having some vibration problems with my car. Last week I changed the bushings in my control arm and some of it went away.

I took the car for alignment and balancing and they told me that the terminals needed to be replaced. They how ever did the alignment but my steering wheel is a bit off, they told me that once I changed the terminals that will go away.

Now the problem is that when I go at aroung 70km/h to 100km/hr the car vibrates, I do not feel anything on the steering wheel, it feels that the chasis vibrates. I donīt know if it could be the tires (michellin) or a bad balancing. As I tell you, the steering wheel does not vibrate.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!!

I'd start with having the tires checked for roundness and balance.

I once had a car that I could not stop from vibrating at speed. After having the tires balanced twice I finally got a tech who actually looked at the tires. He found a slight hump in one tire indicating a broken steel belt under the tread. I then replaced all the tires and the car was smooth again. (Who knew steel belts break? I do now.)

Hi Guys,

I bought new tyres for the car and the vibration is worst. At low speeds, before reaching 80kmhr the car is smooth, but as soon as I get to 80km or more the vibration is bad. I can feel it on the steering wheel and on the car itself.

They told me that the CV needs to be replaced but I donīt know if this would help. The vibration didnīt felt as bad as with the new tyres.

Thanks!

New tires do not always mean good tires unfortunately. I bought a set of very cheap Goodyear American Eagle tires from Walmart. As soon as I got up to speed on the interstate my truck started shaking so bad I could not see clearly from the rear view mirrors. It was then that I learned how Walmart manages to sell tires at such low prices. Walmart sells blems (aka blemish or seconds or rejects) that the tire manufacturer won't sell in their own stores.

So, what did you buy?
