One of the mufflers is usaually a resinator to make the exhaust quiet. Not sure why there is two cats, but you could probably get away with one.
Are you doing turbo-back or just cat-back? You should be able to deletethe middlemuffler(resinator).

just a cat back, looks like there is a cat on the downpipe and then another cat about 1ft before the middle muffler/resonator. never seen anything like it. Thanks for your help-

I will tell you this. If your a budget tuner, then budget yourself enough for a full turboback system.

Yeah might take you awhile to save for it, but it will be worth it in the end.

I mean a catback system isn't going to net you much. 10-15 Hp max and that is if your car is in tip top shape. Also with a full turboback system your going to see the most gain from a downpipe upgrade.

There is usauallya flex joint on the downpipe. that might be what you are looking at. It is there for vibrations from the engines so the exhaust doesn't rattle.
