Hello,
Volvo radios, like many of the new cars of today, use a fiberoptic system (MOST) that does not lend itself well to fiddling around with...unless you want to generate a mess of error codes in your Volvo. My son is a certified Audio Installer and says Volvo audio systems are exceedingly difficult to work on.
One option, albeit expensive, is to take your 2007 down to the dealer and have them install the Volvo USB/iPod integration kit. You can see how it is installed by going to http://vccs.volvocars.se/accessories/ii/search.aspxand searching on USB. It is complicated as you can see. However, once installed, you can control your iPod from the steering wheel and see the songs on the radio display. I had that installed when I bought my 2008 S40i from Göteborg...it's sweet...but nearly $400.
I'm not aware of any otherDIY kit...remember, futzing around with your Volvo's wiring may earn you an error code...they are very sensitive.
Good luck.
