Default S40 rear brake caliper piston cover

I'm changing a torn rear caliper piston dust cover. I removed the old one and I am now installing the replacement cover. I also noticed that the new dust cover fits over an 1/8th of an inch circular edge on the caliper when installed. This seems to be different from my experience with other vehicles because the cover usually seeds down into the piston chamber and not outside of the piston.... this looks to easy ? so,has anybody had experience replacing just the dust cover on this model. I can't tell if the old one I took off had any kind of glue/adhesive to keep it in place because the new one just slips over the 1/8 edge and I'm concerned as to whether this is correct, and all that is needed..... thanks! Ron

Take the piston out, slide the new boot over the piston to the bottom, seat it in the groove in the bore (is it clean?), screw the piston back in clockwise while applying pressure. Keep everything clean.

Thanks for the info. I know this is normal procedure on most brakes, but the dust cover will not seed down into the piston cylinder. That's what puzzles me as the cover just seals around the 1/8th inch circular edge on the caliper. plus, I just lifted the old seal off with a screwdriver and it just lifted off with any problem.... I wish I had picks to show you, but this seems to be specific to Volvo, I guess??
