Default Tire size

I have recently purchased a nice one owner 2009 S40 2.4i and the original window sticker was with the car. It says that it came from the factory with 205/55/17 tires. The car has 205/50/17 now. When I go shopping for new tires it always calls for 205/50/17. Can anybody tell me the about the story that is going on here. I would love to hear it!! Thanks

curious what your tire pressure sticker (ie gas cap door or door jamb label) show for tire sizes. As you noted all references list 205/50-17 as stock so curious if the sticker was a misprint.
