Default turbo problems

I wanted to ask if anyone has had turbo problems. My current situation is when I open the turbo up it starts to hesitate and surge. This just started a couple of days ago. I thought it was water in the gas but I used some stuff and the car seems to run fine other then when I really push the turbo. Even mild use of the turbo cause a slight hesitation. Is my turbo going bad, can they do that, what else could cause this. I dont have a code reader and there is not a single light on the dash.

I don't know what the exact problem is.

However I can tell you turbos can go bad.

I was looking at some other posts and they mention coils. Would coils cause this sort of behavior?

Sounds like spark coils.

Either a bad Coil/Coils or spark plugs will cause that problem.

Thanks for the info. I had to run it in last night for them to pull code. Wish I had my own code reader. I will keep everyone who is interested posted on what I find out.

Recommend change spark plugs.

Might be more to come.

UPDATE

Just to update on what needed to be done and for anyone else who is interested. They changed the plugs and tell me that fixed it. I am however a bit pissed, not because the whole thing cost me 350 bucks but I replaced the spark plugs about six months ago. Dealer tells me they are only good for about 40 000 kms. yikes what is with that.

I will post tommorrow on how the car actually is running. I hope they didn't flash my chip.

Turbo'd cars are hard on plugs... Lots of people start using copper plugs for like 3 dollars each... and just change them yourself every 20K miles or so, at a cost of a whopping 12 bucks

Now that I know about this problem I will be looking after the plugs myself. I would recommend that you dont use bosch platnium plugs. I had a look at the ones he pulled and the look pretty bad considering they were only in there for 6-8 months.

Yeah I put denso iridiums in my audi about 3 months ago... have put about 4000 miles on them... I experienced a bit of misfire last week, on two seprate tanks of gas... hasn't happened since, but it definately happened. I don't know if the plugs are to blame... but I know I wont go blowing 10+ dollars per plug ever again... I'll be switching to copper and changing them frequently.

I am going to have to agree with you on that one. Spending more money on plugs is not really worth it if you have to change them every 30,000 kms.

Not wasting my time on platnuim or irdium or what ever. I will just buy OEM and change more often.

How much are OEM though? My audi uses NGK double platinums or "laser platinums" which are like 15 a plug from the dealer (22 bucks CDN a plug anyways).

I will be using like 3-4 dollar NGK coppers.

I have a 2001 S40 that had the exact problem. I had the coils and spark plugs wire change and the problem was solved. My mechanic told me that the coils go bad on this model often... I hope this helps
