Default Volvo S40 – PCV Valve Issue

Hi guys,
I own a S40 and a XC60 and have lurked on these forums for years but this is my first post and I’d really appreciate your input.
I have an issue with my 2007 S-40 and I’m curious to hear what this forum thinks about my issue.
Last week I took my S40 into Volvo and they found that the PCV Valve was making my car make a whistling noise. Volvo fixed the problem with no charge to me, as it is apparently a known issue. Not sure if it’s a recall issue or Service bulletin and I don’t know the difference.
However, this week my Volvo (117,000km) was leaking oil as a number of seals are leaking. I asked the dealer that since it was probably caused by the PCV issue, shouldn’t Volvo fix the problem for free?
They responded that there is no evidence that the PCV Valve pressure caused my oil leak and thus I’m being charged $1,100 for it. I pushed the issue further and they offered to reduce the price by a further 20% but wouldn’t take on more than that. My argument is that the result of a bad PCV Valve is exactly this kind of problem and since it just happened, how could it be anything else?
To exacerbate everything, my lease is up in one month and I was going to buy a new S60 T5 AWD.
So my questions for you guys are:
1) Do you guys think I’m being unreasonable in thinking Volvo should pay for this?
2) Can I in good conscience buy another Volvo after this issue?
Thanks in advance, for any responses.

P.S. I know there is no specific PCV Valve...rather it's some sort of PCV system.
