Volvo S40 (2000) Front Caliper Question..
Hi,
I recently tried to replace my front brake discs and pads on my Volvo S40 1.6 SX (year 2000) but noticed the two bolts / pins which hold the calipers onto the brake discs were heavily rusted. I have decided not to continue with the replacement work until I can purchase four new bolts / pins. I suspect the bolt heads will disintergrate when I take them out.
The bolts appear to be long and thin and look like they go all the way through the inside of the caliper. The bolts' heads point towards the engine and not towards the roadside. One is located at the top of the caliper and the other is located at the bottom.
My question is:
Any idea where I can get replacement bolts / pins from? I contacted my local Volvo dealer (Mills Newcastle) and they weren't very helpful. They said the replacement brake pads should have com with new bolts. However, the bolts which come with the brake pads (Textar) are much thicker and shorter than the bolts holding the caliper in place.
The guy in the part's dept seemed more interested in telling my how I shouldn't have bought none volvo parts (Pagid discs and Textra pads) than trying to help me.
Any help is much appreciated.
