Default front caliper fitting issue

Just attempting to reinstall new FL caliper and pads. Before bolting it all back in I noticed there isn't enough clearance to fit rotor between pads and caliper. Compared old parts and they look identical. Might I need to press in the piston on a new caliper still?
Thanks
Mike

If the pistons will go in more, then compress them. Are the pads correct?

Noticed you said FL in your post. Did you mean Front Left? Are you also replacing Front Right? You must do both sides at the same time, if you don't it could be a very serious safety issue. Just thought I would mention that.

Figured it out...had the pads reversed...not paying attention to things when I remove them usually gets me into trouble as it did.

The other caliper seems fine...I will likely remove and grease the sliders and swap pads in the next few days. Should I replace calipers in pairs as well?

You do not need to replace calipers in pairs, but it never hurts. Doing them in pairs supposedly makes for "even braking", but if that was the case, then the hoses should also be replaced in pairs. I never had a problem replacing just one caliper.

Sorry, should have been more clear. I meant to say pads in pairs. Calipers in pairs wouldn't hurt if you were high mileage since if one failed after high mileage, the second could be due as well.
