Default Water leak- only when car is cold!

Hi,

Hope someone can pleasehelp!

I recently purchased a volvo 2.0 1998 s40 turbo, unfortunately it had a miss fire which turned out to be a burnt exhaust valve. i spent hundreds getting this repaired (Skimmed head etc) ; the missfire has gone, however i suspecti am losing water coolant, every morning or when the car has not been driven for a couple of hours when i start the car there is water dripping. The car runs perfectly does not really overheat. If i drive around and park up and start the car there is no leak. But i believe i am losing water coolant and i can visibily see the water drip from underneath when the car is cold fromthe engine around the rear of the engine block closest to the windscreen. Please help i am really worried and confused. My mechanic has checked water pump which was ok. and i have just replaced the head gasket.

Thanks

as long as the car is not over heating you shouldnt really worry. water could be several thing eg. air conditioning, coolant, windsheild, wiper fluid first make sure it is water because it could aslo be something else. but if its just water it should be an extreme danger or need imidiate attention. maybe you have a leak in a pipe or you might just want to check the spot where the water tank connects to the hose, its not rare that water might leak out whe its cold outside and you start running the engine

Check the coolant line that connects to the turbo. Not 100% sure on the European models though. On the 1.9L North American models, coolant is fed to the center section of the turbo to cool it. You will have to crawl under the car with a strong light to see.
