i see this part behind the gear ..
Written on it, proximity sensor .prox 2000
what is the work of this device ?? and what is the white screw for ?

my car :volvo s40 2000 2.0

i dont have parking sensor
my car is old ,so it's don't have an auto bake system

we are the first owner for it ,so no one touched it ,and it's don't have a muliple alarm system...

i searched the vida program for this part in the car ... no diagram have this thing !!!!!

no one know what it is....

someone says ...its maybe an gps kit ,that the government knows ,where is every car!!!
I have seen the same kit in other cars ,with different names ,but the same cable ,same white screw ,three cables !!! ,
no one of the cars owners know what it is ,
i ask a cars electrician he don't know too !!
my friend removed it from his car ...nothing happened

i got another one from another similar car , i removed the electronic board from it's case...and this is the pic

 

Post it on 30forty50.com they may have a better understanding of what it could be. Have had my 02 s40 for almost 6 years and have never seen it.

 

Camshaft sensor, most likely.... mags on the cam and this module converts the data to something the MCU can use.
