wheel studs

I broke a front wheel stud on my 2005 recently. I searched a while but could only find complete wheel hubs with the studs installed. So I decided to remove the broken stud and see what I could make work. It turns out that the design of the wheel hub blocks the stud from being removed completely. I had to use an angle grinder to make a flat spot on the head of the stud in order to get enough space to remove it. Only a bit of a pain, but the broken stud came out.
Now we all know there are many many different types of studs. Certainly something from the parts store would fit? Well yes it does. I have a 1986 Pontiac Fiero as a project car. I purchased longer studs for a brake upgrade. These have a small head which allow them to just slip past the wheel hub and into the flange. They fit and have the same thread pattern. Dorman part number 610-323. Its the one on the left.
