Would a 2.0 engine from a 1998 S40 work in a 2001 V40 which used to have a 2.0T?
Hi everyone,
The engine in my 2001 V40 2.0T has unfortunately seized and I am thinking of replacing the engine to get it going again. I have found a pretty beaten up 1998 S40 with a 2.0 engine and am thinking I may be able to use that to revive my V40. So the question is, are they interchangeable? I understand there were some differences between the pre and post 2000 models, and of course that the engines are different models. And one more question, if they do happen to be compatible, can I install the turbo from the V40? Or is that quite a more difficult task?
I've got quite a bit of an attachment to that car so if I could get him going again I'd be really stoked.
Cheers guys!

for the most part the block's bolts should all be the same. The non-turbo engines have different cams and pistons - plus I think the turbo engines have an oil spray to cool the pistons. Up top, the 2001s have the VVT set up, not sure if that was on the 98s.
