Default 02 T5 Steering Rack

I need to replace the steering rack on my 2002 S60 T5 and was wondering if anyone has does this and can give me some tips on the procedure. I'm trying to decide whether or not i can do it in my garage or if i should try and find a lift to do it under. Any help would be appreciated.

You will need to support the engine while you drop the rear of the subframe.

Thanks Tech. Now I'm stuck trying to figure out whether or not I have variable assist or not. Any easy way to check? I don't see any wires going into the rack but I'm not 100% sure. Any obvious signs I should look for?

If you had it the wires would be visible from the top near where the steering shaft attaches to the top of the rack.
No wires means you don't have it.

Sounds good. I'll double check before ordering the rack. Thanks.
