Hope you can put my mind at rest, i recently bought an 05 s60 d5 geartroic, and have read on hear that the stop/neutral function was only active on the 01/02 models, but when i'm in D and let my foot off the brake i can feel the gear engage about 1 second afterwards, however when in neutral with foot on brake when i go into D i do feel the box engage which i assume wouldn't happen if it should still be in neutral with my foot on the brake ( hope i've made myself clear, i know it sounds a bit gobblygook).
