Default 05 S60R steering noise

I just purchased an 05 S60R and i noticed that when the wheel is cut all the way it makes a strange noise. The dealer said that its due to the tire rubbing on the inner wheel well. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced a similar problem or is this something that happens out of the box? Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks

Well if u don't mind making the turning radius worst than it is... There is an easy fix which cost u almost nothing to get rid of that noise. On the lower control arms (left and right of the front fender well) there are 2 steering stops... Just take the 2bolts out from those steering stops and shim it with washers (3 on each bolt maximum <6 washers max on each control arm steering stop&gt and resecure the steering stops.. it will make the turning radius worst but it won't rub under inner fender (the metal plate inside inner fender is for the tire to rub so that it doesn't damage inner fender).. This is the easier way of doing it without screwing up alignment. The proper Volvo way is to remove tie rods in steering rack and add stops in steering rack (but after that the vehicle will need alignement). Or the easiest way and best turning radius... Live with the rubbing noise and do as little amount of Lock to Lock turning as possible. hope this help

It's completely normal all S60's rub when you turn the wheel to lock, If you have the optional 18's it does it even easier than if you have the 17's or smaller. I've heard and read several places that leaving it go will NOT cause any issues or problems for the tires or the wheel wells. You can change the wheel stops but like MNCX said it makes the already ****ty turning radius worse. I've left mine go and haven't had any issues(and I have the 18's).
