Sorry if this thread has been made before, but I’m legitimately confused about this. Does anyone know what power steering fluid I need to use? Autozone and O’Reilly’s were not helpful at all, and after scouring the internet I still haven’t found a 100% answer. I did end up buying some prestone full synthetic European, but I haven’t put it in yet for fear of effing up my car. My car’s not sounding or handling very well, and I’ve gone out of my way not to drive it more than necessary. I gotta drive it to work every day, and while it’s only a couple miles there and back, I’m not trying to damage my vehicle. I’d be very appreciative for a quick response so I can take care of this. Thanks in advance.

Edit: power steering fluid, not transmission fluid.

 

According to FCPEuro, this stuff. NAPA sells it, as does AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts. FWIW, CHF 11S also works.

 

For the transmission ONLY use Mobil JWS 3309, Toyota type T-IV, Aisen T-IV, or the Volvo Factory fluid $$$. Do not trust any generic (like what you purchased, please return it) fluid. If it shifts bad now - it will be worse with the wrong or generic fluid.

I'm certain there are a few other Real JWS 3309 spec fluids out there that other will mention.

When you say your car's not sounding or handling very well - do you care to elaborate?
