Default Power steering Fluid help!

I need to add some power steering fluid so i went to advanced auto parts and asked for it and they were not sure what to sell me....

ATF (reddish color)fluid as stated in volvo's manual or synthetic(clear/green)??

I have no idea which one to buy.

I have 2002 volvo s60 Turbo awd.

Thanx for any info.

Since your vehicle probably has the Genuine Volvo fluid, I'd go to your Volvo Dealer Parts Dept and buy it there........it's more expensive but you'll then be sure you're using the correct stuff. Last year I changed both the Power Steering Pump and Alternator on my 2004 S60 and definitely used the Genuine Volvo power steering fluid. I first used a bulb syringe to suck out the fluid from the reservoir and then disconnected the hose to the pump. I also did replaced the power steering reservoir on my 2001 V70 and also used the Genuine Volvo fluid...........safest approach.

i used ATF and it works.
If anything breaks i will kill volvo - manual is either wrong or people make to much of the deal out of it.
