Default 2006 S60 AWD tire dilemma

I just blew the RR tire with 18K miles on it and the place I bought a set of 4 almost 2 years ago wont replace just one, they say all 4. I dont know the tread depth yet as its dark out and I'll have to find the tread depth gauge. The car has 162K.

There are numerous differences of opinion on the Net and even on Volvo forums after doing a Search.

What does Volvo say about this?

Is the AWD design the new type where slight height differences wont hurt the driveline?

Does the replacement, if acceptable, have to be the same brand and tread pattern?

How long can I run on the donut, and what speeds, and not hurt the driveline?

If no one on here knows the answers where can I find them.?

Frustrated in NH

I've seen one tire replaced plenty of times. Like most and cars the system is fwd based. The awd system only kicks on when it needs to like if the tires are spinning.

You'll be fine. The danger is on the old AWD systems that use a viscous coupler.
