Default 2012 S60 T5 or T6?

My 2000 S40 is still humming along, but I gave it to my parents. Time for a "new" car and I'm considering a pre-owned S60 for my growing family. The S60 will be my daily driver, but I'll be using it to shuttle the kids once or twice a week. I'll have 1 forward-facing carseat (Britax Marathon) and 1 booster in the back. Does the Britax fit okay with a small 5-year old sitting in it?

To those of you who own a 2011-14 S60 T5, do you wish you got the T6 instead? Would you say both engines are equally reliable, or does one seem to have more problems than the other?

Any available options that are "must-haves" and any that I should skip on?

Earlier generation had not much rear legroom, with taller adults in the front seats. Even with a booster, the kids still get their legs on the front seat. Not sure about the later S60 but worth testing before purchasing.

I own a 2012 V60 T4 (Australian model). I've driven a few S60s, one T4, one T5 and one T6 AWD. Not really sure about the child seats, but when I bought my V60 I got the T4 engine with the Polestar Optimisation Package (132kW increased to 147kW). It's a pretty powerful engine. I found that the acceleration in the T4 Polestar was better than the T5 when I compared the two cars.

Since the V60 just came out in the USA, I'd consider a demonstrator S60, not a pre-owned. I bought my V60 as a demo, it came with a few options and pretty low mileage. If you get a lot of snow in your city, then go for a S60 with AWD. In Australia we don't get much snow (or at least where I live, we don't get any at all) so AWD for me isn't necessary.

Personally I prefer the T4 over the T6, and if the T4 wasn't an option, the T5 over the T6. Obviously the lower engines will deliver better fuel economy, and that's pretty good for me. I don't wish that I got the higher engines over my T4, because it's a pretty quick engine and I drive mainly to and from work daily.

The T4's been pretty reliable, however when its cold (very cold) the engine sometimes revs when I put it into Drive from Reverse. Not really a big issue. I'd assume that the T5 and T6 are equally as reliable.

A 'must have' are the heated seats, and if possible (if you're buying new or if a car on the lot comes with it) the Polestar Optimisation. It reflashes the ECU and boosts engine performance up to 15kW. It doesn't void the warranty at all, and is a dealer installed option. Skip over the sunroof, I'm not sure why anyone would ever need that. Rear parking sensors and Navigation are pretty useful too, for the S60 the reversing camera isn't really needed since its pretty easy to see out of (unless if its raining, of course). Keep in mind that there is no rear wiper blade like most sedans, so if it tends to rain a lot, maybe a reversing camera is a good idea.

The V60 which I have also has BLIS on top of that. Only had a few problems with it, hopefully Volvo has corrected it in the later models.

Let us know if you have any more queries.

I just read that the Polestar V60 was going to list for $59K and they were only going to make something like 130 of them. However, that $59k also gets you 345hp.
