Default AC Question

I have an '01 2.4T and I just started having AC issues. I'll start out and have good cool air but after 45 minutes driving in heat as we are now having in San Jose, CA 103º today the AC seems to lose it's cooling. I shut the AC off and after 15 minutes turn it back on and it works once again. Is this a compressor issue, or does the system need to be pulled down and recharged?
Thanks for you help.

Very common volvo problem. The air gap on your compressor clutch is too wide. This is adjustable, but it's a little bit of a pain to get to.
