Default Adding front license plate bracket

Hi all,

Brand new here as we just purchased our first Volvo -- 2007 S60T with 22k miles.

I need to add a front license plate bracket (will buy from Tasca and install myself) and wanted to see if there was anything I needed to consider before drilling into the bumper. Any airbag considerations?

Thanks, and looking forward to learning from all of you.

Best,
Tyler

Just added a Euro plate to our 02 V70XC. The head tech at the dealer said that all was back there was foam. I drilled very shallow, just through the plastic, without any issues

Nope, like Volvo Rocks said, it's just some foam so you'll be fine.
You can probably find a plate holder at your local junk yard for really cheap. There all the same from the 850's to the new cars.

I'm guessing you have to add the plate for local laws?
I'm in WA state where it's a state law. I've been with out a front plate for 3 years on my S60R and 2 years before that with my S40. I've been stopped once for it and I didn't even a "fix-it-ticket". So before you go drilling holes in your car, see if it's something you'll really get hounded for.

Hey all,

Finally getting around to this project. Seems like there a lot (foam?) inside the bumper that may make access to install a nut and bolt a bit difficult. Any opinions on using a coarsely threaded screw (thinking sheet metal) to attach the license plate bracket?

Both of mine are attatched with coarse screws, drill small holes, the screws will make there own threads in the plastic. If it ever gives you a problem, use pop rivits

Got a tix, have to install front license plate onto bumper.. But it's like 18 degrees outside. Should I be drilling into my plastic bumper in this cold? Could it damage?
