Buying advice: Looking at a used 2013 s60 Volvo
Looking at potentially purchasing a 2013 Volvo s60 T5 premier FWD, with 116k miles on it. This car is currently in the 'loaner fleet' of my trusted mechanic (20 years of working with them). They've owned the car since Feb of this year. It has limited service history on it, as they were not the ones maintaining it throughout its life, rather this was done at a dealership elsewhere. They are asking ~$8500 for it.
There are 2 outstanding Volvo recalls 89978 and 10029 (door latch and seat belt, respectively) outstanding, that would need to be done.
This vehicle is for my 18 year old son as he goes off to college. Looking for something reliable and safe.
What are some things that I should be on the lookout for with this vehicle? Not new to Volvo, but new to this model. Not sure if its had a 100K service interval performed on it. If it hasn't what is typically done at that major service interval? I see that it has had its intake manifold gasket changed, oil and filter, emission system checked, radiator hose clamp changed, ECM checked. I have a VIN if that helps. Carfax is limited in what it states.
TIA.

the only thing I'd worry about is whether the car has a history of oil consumption. If your trusted shop has owned the car for a while and can vouch that it doesn't have an oil consumption issue, then the rest of the process is to do a proper inspection for wear items like brakes, suspension/shocks (ie rubber bits) and when the timing belt was serviced. The T5 has a 120K mile/ 10 year service interval (whichever comes first) with belt, tensioner and idler to be replaced, plus what is recommended for the serpentine (drive) belt. If it hasn't been done, its due within the next 6 months - and I'd budget 600-700 for that service. Other thing to check is the PCV to make sure the oil separator is in good shape. That's not a difficult service but not required unless something is amiss. Also I'd check the transmission fluid for color and smell. If its not a reddish brown, then a simple drain fill should be done to freshen up and run the old fluid through filter paper to check for any sediment.
