I can not shift my volvo s60 2.5t 2004 out of park, this happens to me twice already. Right now I can not even sent it to service as I can not get out of my garage. Can you anyone help. I read the manual and followed what to do like start engine, press brake pedal then shift but the shifter is shoot dead it wont move. I have an automatic transmission with manual shift.

 

The cable assembly from the key lock cylinder on the steering column might need to be adjusted.

If you disconnect the battery it should come out of park to roll it out of the garage.

 

Ahah.. I had the same symptom today. My car now stuck right in front neighbor's house. I can't start the car. Only managed to turn the ignition key from position '0' to 'I' (intermediate or radio position). Can't turn any further.. and shifter also dead. I wonder if the above suggestion solved the problem. BTW, my car is S60T5 2006 2.4 model, Geartronic.
