can you help me find a tuner
hi i recently got a 2006 s60 2.5T andlove spending time with it i got a tint and just put a cold air intake in, i want to mod it more but my dad says i cant but im gonna do it anyways. im having trouble finding a tuner to help me and i dont understand the parts on computer stores, i work in a auto shop changing oils so i know how to do a little bit. my next goal is to increase my turbo with a "wastegate" whatever that is can someone help find a tuner. i live in greenville S.C. zip is 29651
1- If you don't know what a wastegate is, don't find it and start messing with it!!
2- If you work in an auto shop you should know that messing with the wastegate and not knowing how to adjust is ..... not good.
3- Assuming you knew what you were doing with the wastegate, you would want to do the downpipe, exhaust, ECU first.
4- Call Evolve, IPD, EST, HEICO, etc they can prob point you in the direction of a tuner in your area for Volvos.

Well, simply put there is no "tuner" because the software written into these car's ECU's is way to difficult for some Joe Schmo mechanic to whip out his lap top and change fueling.
Don't mess with the wastegate, don't buy a boost controller and install it, don't even bother calling those companies mentioned above. Your dad will notice you getting an exhaust in the car. Replacing the dow pipe isn't worth it. And surely your father will notice you not driving the car for several days because you shipped your computer off to Heico or IPD to have them do the ecu. Surely he will notice that.
Your only option and something your dad won't notice, but will get you about 40 or 50 more horsepower and will be reversible in a few minutes, and won't have your car down for several days. Is to get a BSR PPC. http://en.bsr.se/products/ppc/

A downpipe isn't worth it? Please explain. Because everyone knows that when you do exhaust upgrades the downpipe adds the most power between the downpipe and the catback system. So saying a downpipe isn't worth it is completely wrong.
Now if your saying that the premade downpipes aren't worth it for the cost then you might have something, but then again nothing for Volvo is cheap. But you can get a custom downpipe made for a lot less then a premade one. Same goes for a catback system.
Also most places wont or can't tune a Volvo properly. That is why we have companies like IPD USA, RICA, BSR to help us tune our ECU's. Each one of them have a PPC unit that they will ship you and you plug into your OBDII port to install the ECU upgrade. You can also always tune it back to OEM with the same unit and then back again to your upgraded tune.

let's see here, down 900 dollars for 15 hp. That is roughly what $60 per hp, thats a rip off. Sure you can get one made for cheaper, that then would be worth it. But then you are still talking about 15 hp, in a 3500+ pound car. So instead of 1hp per each 17.3lbs (assuming you weigh 0lbs) you'll have 1hp for every 16.9 lbs. or in 1/4 mile times roughly 15.88 stock or 15.80 with the downpipe.
And sure you can buy a PPC from other companies like IPD for 1100, who's software is produced by TME/MTE Or you can buy from BSR for less, who actually make their software and offer a lot more perks.
I really don't care what the kid does. But if it were me I wouldn't bother with upgrading a S60 I would just stack my cash and honor my fathers wishes to not mess with the car that he probably paid for.
