1st time post. In November I bought an 02 S60 AWD with 38k on it. The warranty expires in April. The dealer quoted $1,500 plus tax for 3 year full extended warranty. If anyone has any experience with this and would like to comment, I would appreciate it. Am I better off purchasing it or chancing it without one? Are there places to shop around for warranties? Thanks.

 

I bought a used 2001 S60 with 75k in Jan.

I went with the CARS Warranty site for 24 month unlimited mileage for $850.

With my copy of the warranty, they had a included offer for longer periods.

I could increase the coverage in varying increments but the longest was for 7 years unlimited mileage for an additional $495.

They are located in PA and service nationwide via Volvo Dealers.

I would get that warranty man...
I have a 2001 s80 t6 and I've had a decent amount of problems..it seems volvo's go down hill after 47,000 miles....But keep in mind I drive my t6 hard...If i were you I'd strongly get that warranty..

 

Down hill after 47k miles?

My brother-in-law has several with 150-250k miles on them. Run perfectly with very few problems. Original engines although he does take it pretty easy on them.

My XC70 had 80k and was flawless. Have a new S60R which I'm probably driving hard like you...totally worth it though.

 

i do not know why, BUT THE TURBO IS SOOOOO addicting lol...

 

You are so right Gordon. Having the turbo is like the ultimate toy. I remember the first time I stepped on it after breaking the engine in. By the time I looked down I was doing 102mph. Seemed like it only took a few seconds to get there plus, I was going up hill.

What a car the S60R is.

 

I can only imagine how fun the s60r is....its like, people that race dont expect it comming.....
For instance i was at a light ready to race a new maxima 2005 model i think, and he got a little of a head start in the begining and im like, fiddlesticks, and all of a sudden when the turbo kicked in i caught up and over took him - it was soo funny!! ya had to be there

I have heard good things about Warranties 4 Wheels.com. I am getting a 7 year, 125,000 mile warranty from them for my '02 S60 T5 for about $1850.00 with a $100.00 deductable. I also spoke to someone who had AA Autowarranty and they seemed to be satisfied, however, when I looked them up on the BBB website, there were several complaints (all were resolved) in the last 36 months. A good site to get some ideas from is Auto Warranty Reviews check out their top ten list Top Ten . If nothing else just google auto warranties and do some research once you find one that looks good.
