Default Crayon smell in cabin 2001 S60

Hi, I just bought a 2001 S60 and it smells like melted crayons. I didn't really worry about it because i thought I'd find the source when cleaning the carpet & leather seats etc. But the smell hasn't gone away (except for last week when I forgot and left the moonroof open and it rained, then it smelled great). There are a few posts out there on BMW and VW's and crayon smell and the most popular concensus was that the insulation on these cars stinks. Anyone else have this experience and figure out a cure? Thanks.

Default Same

My kids (15 and 17) told me the same thing right after we bought our 2002 S60, 45 days ago. Now I notice it too. My son cleaned the car in and out, but it's still there.

check under the front passenger side floor mat for any dampness.

Have someone smoke in it

Sorry, no constructive advice, except to maybe buy a permanent air freshener....

This sounds like a question for Tom & Ray on the radio. Their answer, I'm sure, would involve chasing down the ventilation system to see if some kids tossed crayon bits thru into the heater/ventilation system via the
the vent slots and they landed somewhow up against the heater core and cook. Can you leave the windows open all night to see if the smell dissipates? And gets worse windows up heater on? Because it smells like crayons, it just might be crayons.

I like crayons.

I like melted crayons.

I like to make candles out of crayons.

I like to burn the candles that I make out of crayons.

I like to drip the wax from the candles I burn that are made out of crayons on my...

Never mind! I'm just wasting time again.
