Crayon smell in cabin 2001 S60
Hi, I just bought a 2001 S60 and it smells like melted crayons. I didn't really worry about it because i thought I'd find the source when cleaning the carpet & leather seats etc. But the smell hasn't gone away (except for last week when I forgot and left the moonroof open and it rained, then it smelled great). There are a few posts out there on BMW and VW's and crayon smell and the most popular concensus was that the insulation on these cars stinks. Anyone else have this experience and figure out a cure? Thanks.
hahahahah, you know people tell me that ALL the time about my S80... Specifically Crayola... I think its the smell of the leather personally, and I dont even notice the smell anymore.. I even like it, when im away from the car, I miss it!
This sounds like a question for Tom & Ray on the radio. Their answer, I'm sure, would involve chasing down the ventilation system to see if some kids tossed crayon bits thru into the heater/ventilation system via the
the vent slots and they landed somewhow up against the heater core and cook. Can you leave the windows open all night to see if the smell dissipates? And gets worse windows up heater on? Because it smells like crayons, it just might be crayons.
