Default CV Joint

My shop warrned me last visit that I may have to repair a CV joint since there's apparently some grease leaking.

How much can a job like this cost? I know the labor rate at my shop, so how long would it take? Should I take it elsewhere instead of the expensive import shop?

I think to replace the boot is like 2 hours or so.

The outer boot of an axle shaft is what it sounds like you need replaced. You should do it before you loose to much grease through the torn rubber boot which will eventually lead to having to replace the drive axle if neglected. The boot is approx $10 and the time to do it is 2hrs per side, you should do both sides l.h. and r.h. because when one side goes the other is not far behind. And it is a typical front wheel drive job does not require a trip to the stealership. Good luck

Thanks! I don't do too much stuff on my own with the car but I insist on being informed when I take it to someone else!
