I bought a used 2003 S60 a couple of years ago. It was a certified pre-owned car. One of the things the nice salesman told me was that they had just put 4 new tires on the car. Today I noticed a tire was flat so I filled it and heard hissing. The tires have 18K on them since I purchased the car.
I took it to Sears Auto as the Volvo dealer was closed and it was the only place that could look at the car within an hour. They showed me that the sidewall in this had a significant leak and generally looked too deteriorated for a tires with that amount of miles on it.
When I asked them to just replace the tire, they were shocked to see that the car had 4 'S' speed-rated tires on. Their system showed and the subsequent tire spec book showed that the car was too heavy for 'S' rated tires and called for 'H'. Anyhow, they didn't want to put an H rated tire on the car since mixing ratings on the same axle is apparently a big no-no. They finally reluctantly agreed to put a new S on it.
Do I have a right to be peeved with the dealer? Can anyone verify that the car must have H rated tires? Does anyone know what the OEM tires were? Any help here would be appreciated. I'm planning a nice chat with the dealer on Monday if the Sears center and the unaffiliated book were right.

I do believe it should have atleast H rated on there. I have never seen S rated tires.
