Default Excessive Vibration

Hey Guys,

I just bought a 2004 S60 with 25k and so far I love it. Before I get to my question I just want to thank you guys for making this forum available. Lots of great information. I live in Chicago and it has been in the 20's for a couple months now. I have noticed that when the car is stopped at a light or put into idle that it starts vibrating excessively. The floor board and the steering wheel seem to be the worst but the door panels and glove compartment door are also bad. When I was looking for a new Volvo about a month ago, I test drove another s60 and the person who was with me noticed that it vibrated much the same way but worst. You could actually see the steering wheel vibrating with your naked eye. The dealer looked at the car and called to tell me thatit was fixed, but I never went back. The car I did buy does not vibrate as bad but when I am stopped the vibrationis a bit annoying. I don't know if this is relatedto the extreme cold or if it is something more serious that I should have the dealer look at. It was warmer (in the 40’s) when I bought the car and I don't recall it vibrating like this then. Has anyone experienced this?

Any input would be helpful. Thanks again for the Forum

James

I have somewhat of the same issue, but not that bad and only until the engine bay warms up, then it's gone. But I also have a polyurethane upper engine mount, which is the cause of my shaking.

Might be bad engine mounts.

Most likely your upper torque mount, common failure on these cars.
