I have a 2002 s60 with 118K miles.

Lately it has been idling high (1500 rpm) when started, but drops down to normal when put in drive.

This morning when I stared her she idled at 3500 rpm, then when I put her in drive she was rumbling like she was going to stall. I turned her off and restarted and she ran ok.

Could this be a bad throttle body? And if so, from some old info on Google is this recall item?

i would look at the IAC valve (idle air control valve) first

 

no IAC valve in a '02 S60

 

oh my bad seems your right
well in that case there are many other things to look at
idle issues always have bugged me =/

is this car new to you? also does this happen every time you start the car or only on cold starts?
