Default free play in steering wheel when going around a roundabout

hi I have a s60 2004 2.4 se manual diesel. I have recently brought it. does anyone know why there is a slight free play in the steering wheel when going around a roundabout (uk) it kinda goes from left to right slightly??

I'd check wheel lugs and well as subframe bushings

I agree with the other poster. Definitely check the wheel lugs to make sure they are torqued properly.

But the play in the wheel sounds consistent with sub-frame bushings wearing out.

How many kilometers are on the car?
