Default Front Suspension feels and Sounds loose

i have a 2005 volvo S60 2.0T When drivind on gravel road slowly, the front wheels/suspension makes a knocking sound of loosness. even whe reversing off a cliff or driving over it a once off knocking sound is stil audible but is i stop the car and shake/bounce it, no sound is audible. what could be the problem? please help.

The spring seat is probably broken. Look at the top of the strut in the engine compartment. The nut has a cap on it. Pry the cap off and try to turn the nut with a 13/16th socket or wrench. if you can turn it the spring seat needs replaced.
