Front Tire Rub on Inside of Wheelwell
I have a 2007 S60R. I love the car, except for the turning radius and the fact that the front tires rub on the inside of the wheel well when making a sharp turn/parking. I took it to a Volvo dealer and was told that this is NORMAL. After some internet research it does sound common.
I have been thru 2 sets of tires that are the correct size in the last 12,000 miles. The car already has limiters on it. I have taken the car to an alignment shop twice to make sure that is not the problem. Can anyone offer suggestions on how to fix this problem without making the already ridiculously wide turning radius even wider? I am open to a radical fix, like taking a hammer to the inside of the wheel well and smashing it in an inch.
I am at crisis stage! My wife is threatening to get rid of this car and buy a Subaru!

Lulz. While going with a hammer in the inner wheel well might get the frustration out that might not be the best idea.
It's a very common problem with the R's. Get yourself some 5mm spacers and thrown them up front. That should solve the rubbing. Proven to work on swedespeed.
Common problem for all S60's equipped with wider tires. I have the same problem on my 2.5T and yes the turning radius is ridiculous but that is about the only draw back I found with my car after one year + of ownership.
First check the steering stops and make sure they are still in good shape What i did was put a few washers behind the stops it limited turning buy a very small amount but the rubbing stopped. That or spacers are your only choices. I have used 5 + different brands of tires and all rub in some way.
Yes! The turning radius is downright dangerous. I've had to back up in the middle of a three-lane road when doing a u-turn. It does take some getting used to - now I hang it wide and turn it to the full stop position quickly and then I barely make it.
My G37 will u-turn into the center lane, easily!
