How to fix tire rub issue with 17" wheels

I have 17" upgraded rims on my 2002 S60 and I put new meat on yesterday (Mich Pilot Sport A/S+). The tires are 235 45ZR17.
I knew of the issue when I bought the car and right away realized it was tire rub, but when I do a U-Turn (legal here in AZ) or tight maneuvers on the parking lot, I get tire rub.
Not a big deal but I wonder if anybody has fixed this by cutting through the inner fender?
Thanks for your help!

Volvo came out with a fix but it isn't worth getting.
Making U-turns is already hard with the turning radious. Doing the fix makes it worse.
One of the statements I like to make out this fix is that instead of needing 1 football field to make a U-turn you will need 2 after the fix.

Yes but I did not realize I was upping the size. The previous owner had that size on and that's what I thought I was to use.
Oh well...
I will hook up my GPS and see what the real speed is and adjust accordingly.
I am used to that on my Avalanche, which has big wheels and big tires as well.

Yes, it is the stock size on my car.
I will put the car on blocks this week-end and take a look from under the hood and see where it is rubbing.
I don't see why it would not be possible to at least remove a couple inches from the inner fender...

do a search, i know that on SS there what a guy who took off a panel on the inside wheel well. it rubs at the top front inside of the tire and you can see on the well where it is rubbing by the scrape marks, there are plastic "rivets" holding that piece in.
