Interior fan works on low setting only, Brake Failure Urgent Service.
My AC works fine. I can hear the compressor kicking in, but the fan controller inside the car works on the low setting only. My other problem is the Brake failure message. The brakes are fine, but when I hit on the breaks I can hear an air leak sound. The message comes on when I drive locally and disappears on the Hwy, probably because I hit less on the breaks on the Hwy. I also have this funny message....Bulb failure postion required!!! Any input on these messages? Thanks.
The first problem is most likely a bad blower motor resistor.
The second problem sounds like a bad brake booster.

negative, if you hear a constant hiss than the brake booster is leaking. be prepared to pay for it tho. Booster is pretty expensive. the bulb failure is exactly wats its saying, Walk around the car and ill guarntee you, you have a bulb blown........
Hi again. My mechanic is telling me that the resistor for the blower motor controls the low speeds, and since I have the blower working in low speed only, then, he thinks, that it might be the control switch board and is advising to change the whole control switch board from a junk yard. What do you advise, do the resistor or the switch board......or both? Thanks for all your help.
Did he check the wiring and make sure the resistor isn't bad?
The newer cars are a little different. The resistor is mounted in by the blower motor.
The control panel won't just plug and play. It will need a download if it can even be reloaded.

No he did not do any wiring tests. He is a know it all kind of guy. I will tell him what you just told me. Can you possibly tell me where exactly the resistor is located. Is this is something I can do at home? If so, do you have the steps for doing it? Thank you so much.
It has been a little while since I had one apart but it is under the dash on the passenger side. If you remove the motor from the box it comes out in a case like thing. The resistor is mounted under the motor. You will have to slide the motor out of the housing to get to the resistor. To remove the motor out of the housing you will have to remove 2 screws.
I wisj I had more info for you but like I said it has been a while.

Yeah, if you do decide to replace the Climate control module, it will have to be downloaded. Tell ur mechanic to add that to his know it all capabilities!~
If you think it is OK to do then I will try. Otherwise I will leave it to my mechanic. He's charging me $150 to do it. This is reasonable, I think. My wife is driving a 1999 s80T6. The computer gave signals of ABS and STC service and the instrument cluster quit working. She parked her car and restarted and all went back to normal. I sent the ABS module to the rebuild shop in FL for $75 as you probably know. We installed it last week. No problems until today when the same problems re-occured. She just told me and I am so frustrated. I do not know whose at fault. Is it the rebuilder or was it another problem from the start?
