knocking engine very hard
hello i was driving my 2001 volvo v70 when it started knocking can i just drop the oil pan and replace bearings to fix it is it worth trying and is it hard to do or can a diy guy can do anything that you can help me with i would really appreciate very much
Usually if a rod bearing gets to he point of you hearing a knocking sound - the bearing has spun in the rod, damaging the rod and the crankshaft. A new bearing at that point will not fit (or work) properly.
It's not really difficult to remove the pan and replace the rod bearings - But I certainly would not buy new bearings until you make sure there is no damage to the rod or crank>
There are other things that can create knocking noises - Why do you think it's a "bearing"? (previous experience blowing up engines maybe?)
