Default Leaking Power steering!?

I'm driving my volvo s60 2001 across the states. Before leaving I got my car checked out and everything. But now my power steering liquid is leaking. I first noticed this when the steering started to get really hard.. I checked the fluids and it was empty. So I got some ATF and filled it up.. literally 30 mins later it was nearly empty and the steering has gotten tough again. Now I just stopped about 250 miles ago to get work done on my CV joints as well as get my fuel pump fixed.. My question is would the work on the CV joints/ fuel pump have had any effect on my power steering? And also What can I do to fix this and get on the road again? and lastly is it safe to drive it 20 miles to the next mechanic while its leaking? Thanks!

the potential is there that during the CV joint repair they could have nicked the return line from your steering gear.
take off the skid plate and look for leaks.
